Overdue for an update here. I quickly realized that I much prefer the Wordpress platform. IMHO, Blogger is to blogging as MySpace is to social networking. Just so 2007.
On the plus side, I do like the integration with Google ID, stability of the platform, and ease of initial use. Blogger seems to have a greater variety of off-the-shelf widgets, and of course there's the ability to integrate AdSense on the free platform (which you can't do on Wordpress.com yet). I just can't get beyond the clunky interface.
That said, I've been further experimenting with Wordpress self-hosted system. The basic Wordpress.com mostly suits my needs and I'm maintaining JohnScout 2.0 scouting blog there. However, there's a whole world of bells and whistles in the self-hosting and I could not resist.
